Rushie events! Run and organised by the fans.
Co-ordinator: Rushie Team effort!
Location: New York
Date: Spring 2009 (Possibly early April)
Info: We're hoping to put together a Rushie Meet in the USA in 2009. Rumours are a-flying that "Exit the King" will be making a short run on Broadway, so some of us Rushies are intending to meet up and go together. This will be a great opportunity for Geoffy fans in the States to get-together for the first time, and also a fantastic excuse for us who live elsewhere in the world to visit New York! (Myself [England] and rushysgirl [Australia] are both planning on making the trip, for instance!) Keep your eyes on Geoffy's Live Journal group and his IMDb message board for more information over the coming months. And if any Rushies from the UK are planning on going and would like a travel buddy, feel free to get in touch with me since, at present, it looks likely I'll be travelling to New York on my own!

Co-ordinator: Me!
Location: probably London
Date: Summer/Autumn 2009
Info: I'm not sure whether I'll have the time and/or money to organise a UK Rushie Meet this year - particularly bearing in mind that I might be making the long and expensive trip to New York if "Exit the King" rears its head on Broadway - but if there is enough interest around the time when "Laundry Warrior" is released, I'll be happy to try to arrange something. I propose travelling to London to attend the premiere of the film (by which I mean stand at the barriers! LOL), and thereafter - well, whatever we fancy! Like I say, this may or may not happen but get in touch with me to register any interest. It's always great to meet fellow Rushketeers, after all -- especially when we get to see a new Geoffrey film together.
The Gala featured a UK preview screening of Elizabeth: The Golden Age at the recently refurbished "Cinema City" in Norwich, with special appearances by Geoffrey Rush and the film's director Shekhar Kapur. The film was followed by a filmed Question and Answer session, and after the Q&A, there was a light buffet supper. To read my report of the day, click the link below:

The UK Rushie Meet was organised by myself and took place in Birmingham, where we met up and went to see Geoffrey's then-latest film Elizabeth: The Golden Age together, after which we went to Pizza Hut for an after-movie meal and some Rush-orientated discussion!
